The Blessing Box

The Blessing Box was dedicated on June 3rd and appears to be a success within the community for which it was intended.

There are some who feared it would be abused, but thus far it has not been the case. People have taken just what they would use or need, perhaps realizing that others may be struggling just as they are. We went into this acknowledging the possibility that it could be abused, but Christ called us to step out and take that chance. The positive it could do, and is doing, would far outweigh any negative that could be attached. And, thus far, it is working well.

Thanks to all of you who have contributed, and we encourage each of you to bring one item each month to keep the box stocked. If each of us helps just a little, the burden will be small and the benefits great.

Just as in Leviticus 23:22, “When you reap the harvest of your land, do not reap all the way to the edge of your field, or gather the gleans of your harvest. Leave them for the poor and the foreign resident.”  The idea of those who have been blessed being a blessing to those less fortunate runs throughout the Bible and is at the heart of Jesus’ message.

Thank you for sharing your blessings with those less fortunate, as you are doing God’s work for those who need to experience His love the most.
