2015 Scholarship Recipient

The 2015 First Presbyterian Scholarship Recipient was Elizabeth Kerr, daughter of Kerry and Ruth Kerr.  Presentation was made during Worship Service on Sunday, May 10th

In presenting the scholarship, Ellen Watts, Chair of the Scholarship Committee, said:

"Elizabeth will be graduating this year from East Forsyth High School, where she has attended all four years. She plans to pursue a degree in Graphic Design at East Carolina University beginning in the Fall.

"We have watched Elizabeth grow up here at First Presbyterian Church. She has been a faithful Sunday School student as well as an attendee at almost all functions here at the church.  She helps with Vacation Bible School, KIC (Kids in Christ), Holiday Market, the Christmas Parade,  Christmas plays, and the Mission Love Feast as well.  Elizabeth was the “Woman Behind the Screen,” by running the AV System for the Contemporary Service.  Amazingly, this year will mark her seventh mission trip.

"We are proud of all that she has done at First Presbyterian Church.  We appreciate  her willingness to work with the children, helping with activities, and that huge smile! We hope she will continue to help out here when she can and to continue her mission work this summer and in the future.

Elizabeth, your family at First Presbyterian Church is proud of you and we wish you all the best in your future pursuits.  Our prayers will be with you wherever you go! It is my privilege to present this scholarship and our best wishes to you on behalf of everyone at First Presbyterian Church."

After the presentation Rev Dr Thom Burleson asked that all who had workedwith Elizabeth over the past years to gather in the center aisle for prayer.  Members were then given the opportunity of greeting and congratulating Elizabeth as they exited the service.
