Meet Our Staff
The staff at First Presbyterian Church are reflections of God’s people at work in the Lord’s service and for the good of the church. If there is any way in which we can serve you, please let us know.
Rev. John Pruitt, Pastor

John Pruitt became the Pastor at First Presbyterian Church, in Kernersville, on April 1, 2017.
Originally from Inman, SC, he earned a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of South Carolina in 1986 and served as the Director of Bands at Westside High School, in Anderson, SC, for ten years. John then attended Princeton Theological Seminary where he received a Master of Divinity in 1999. He has served churches in Gastonia, NC; Belmont, NC; and Rock Hill, SC. In addition, he has spent four years doing Chaplaincy work.
Rev. Pruitt believes that the worship of God is the central and defining event in the life of a church. With his background in education, John also has a strong interest in teaching and spiritual growth. Additionally, he highly values an outwardly focused church that places a strong emphasis on mission, service, and caregiving.
At both the local and national levels, John has served the Presbyterian Church USA through various committees and boards. He has also been active in the local community through a wide variety of groups such as Family Promise, Habitat for Humanity, and food and poverty organizations.
Rev. Pruitt has two adult children, Jacob and Mary Grace. In his spare time he enjoys music, reading, history and sports.
Jane Johnson, Administrative Assistant and Intake Treasurer

Jane serves in two important positions in our Church. She serves as Administrative Assistant and Intake Treasurer. As Administrative Assistant, Jane is responsible for all of the administrative duties required by the Pastor, Session Members, Committee Chairs, as well as all ongoing church activities. As the Intake Treasurer she is responsible for all funds received and deposited, accurate record-keeping of donor activities and providing bi-annual statement.
On a more personal note, Jane has been associated with our church since 2005. She relocated from Wisconsin over 34 years ago and settled in Kernersville. Jane has 54 years of experience in administration, bookkeeping, customer service, instructional classroom teaching, early childhood development and graphic arts. Jane’s great-grandfather was a Presbyterian Minister who preached in both German and English. She is also a descendant of two very important historical patriots: George Ross, one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, and Betsy Ross who made our country’s flag.
