2022 Easter Egg Poem

             Eggs, Let’s Make Eggs!

Eggs you say, let’s make eggs? Not my idea, but make them we did.
Rusty, Don, Jim, Mike, and Kelsey managed to laugh and kid,
With the mixer whirring and foolishness every day.
Those men and women made eggs, and scooped them on a tray.

They tallied the numbers and brought out the scooped dough
For Priscilla, Sue, Darcy, Linda, Diana and others to show
How to make an egg shape and as they gossiped a bit.
They knew how many eggs on a tray would always fit.

Mike and George stirred the precious milk chocolate to a beautiful shine.
Lynda, Joy, Hazel, Carla, Trudy and, Lorraine placed dipped eggs in a line.
Floyd and Konnie tried it all, cleaning, cutting, labeling and bagging.
I can’t say enough about our volunteers and yes, I sure am bragging!

We’ve had so many come to wrap these precious eggs, from local churches
The Methodists, the Baptists, the Catholics, Facebook groups heard about our searches
For volunteers to help us get eggs ready to sell around town.
Those nice folks began to show up, and help us when we were down.

Jeanette, Judy, Patty, Linda, Tonya, Dottie and Rita wrapped eggs so well
That they trained the Firemen, Police officers and others I couldn’t tell
Who was a novice and which were wrapped by a pro.
Lorna and Nancy were soon able to get orders ready to go.

Some left in a bag to be shared right away, others went into a large tray
To be sold at a store or restaurant the very next day.
Devotions were the highlight of the day as we gathered to hear what the preacher had to say.
Sometimes George told a story or John interpreted scripture but we always took the time to pray.

The community responded in such a positive way
Now that this is all over and it’s that very last day,
Not an egg will be left alone to be unclaimed by man
It will be bought by someone seeking a little chocolate in their hand.

We look forward to the day we can bless our organizations with a donation
For their programs and needs because of your work and dedication.
We hope you’ve had fun and made an acquaintance or two,
As you worked to help others see this awesome project through.

The eggs are only made just this time of year
When we remember our Savior and His sacrifice so dear.
It is in His name that we work and share His love so clear
By doing this for others, we keep His Spirit very near.

Eggs you say?
Let’s do eggs again!
I don’t know about you,
But next year you can count me in!
